My October Goals {and a September recap}

Hey friends!

So it's time for me to share my monthly goals again. I've been doing this for a few months now and I'm still really enjoying it. Some months I don't get any of them done, some months I get a few done. It's just a fun way to grow in the things that are important to me and to keep moving forward. So here we go! Let's start with a quick review.

Here's what I planned to do in the month of September:

1. Our bathroom makeover is alllmmoooostt done! It's those pesky finishing touches that I need to finish up. What kind of art do you hang on the walls of a bathroom? Hmm... suggestions? The room has a lot of white, so I'm thinking a fun pop of color would be nice.

2. I did read a bunch of articles on momma and baby topics! I loved this goal - it came at a helpful time, too, as we'll probably transition Bekah to some solid foods this month. I feel a bit more prepared.

3. I did complete the SheReadsTruth "Open Your Bibles" plan and loved it. I got pretty far behind at one point, so I would cram a few days into one day. It felt like I was "feasting" on God's word... and that was pretty cool. (Here's the link if you want to read it, too!)

4. I did make a piece of art for Bekah's room - three actually! I made some embroidery hoop art to fill in a bare spot above her dresser. I'm hoping to share some pictures of her room soon, so I'll be sure to include those there.

5. I actually forgot about this goal after just a few days, but even just a little extra prayer for friends was a good thing.

Now let's get moving onto October. Here's what I'm planning for this month:

1. I can't wait to get to know some of the women in our building better this month. I love where we live and feel crazy blessed to have such incredible families around us.

2. We live near Philly, home of delicious cheesesteaks (yum yum yum). Luke's been wanting to check out some museums in the city for a while, so it's time to plan a trip!

3. I feel like my schedule is getting a little more normal these days - Bekah is consistently waking up around the same time and I'm seeing an opportunity to have a little quiet time at the start of my day. Looking forward to creating a routine that gets the day started on a good foot, whether I have a minute or an hour before my girl wakes up.

4. It might be taking me a few months, but I'm determined to post that bathroom update some day! I'd love to share the updates on that room and either our kitchen or Bekah's room. Sometimes you've just gotta share what you have done and not worry about doing this or that first, ya know? (Talking to myself there ;))

Alrighty, so those are my goals for October.  What are you planning to do this month? I love hearing your goals!

Love,
Bonnie

  1. Cheesesteak date night? Sounds like an amazing idea. I'd love to read your suggestions on great places to find cheesesteaks in Philly.

  2. I've been working on getting up a little earlier each day so I can spend some quiet time alone, with God, before I start my day. It's so hard to get into a routine but I know if I start to feel better, I'll keep going with it!

  3. Bonnie, I love these goals!! I would also love to develop a quiet time routine :) I wrote about my goals too if you wanna check them out here! http://simplicityrelished.com/october/

  4. I love these, Bonnie!
I've always struggled with developing a consistent quiet time "schedule," but I've been doing my best to put my computer & phone away & spend time reading my Bible.

Philly is so much fun too! I haven't been to the museums in Philly, but I've only heard good things. Also ... if you're ever feeling adventurous, I know of a really great Vietnamese restaurant! As well as the BEST Italian bakery. I'm talking the greatest cannoli you'll eat in Pennsylvania (not even exaggerating a little bit). :)

I think for this month, I'm going to steal your September goal of choosing a friend to pray for each day (and letting them know). You never know who God might lay on your heart, and what encouragement you might be able to give them!

  5. Mmmm both of the food recommendations sound so good. :) So cool you've chosen that as a goal - you'll have to let me know how God uses that! Thanks for reading, Kelly!

  6. Thanks Daisy! :) And thanks for linking to your goals! I love the list you created.

  7. I'm with ya there. :) Taking that time to worship and talk through stuff with God is a total heart changer for me... I desperately need that at the start of the day. Thanks for that reminder!

  8. Same to you! Let me know if you have a favorite :) We have a couple local places we love outside of Philly so we'll see if what we eat in the city beats that!

  9. Great goals!! I ought to get a quiet time routine down too. Bug is up very early and it varies a bit day by day so I can't always guarantee that I'll get any time before she's awake - but it's worth a try! Btw I love the idea of a museum/cheesesteak day!! :)

  10. I love bloggers who share their goals! Makes me feel like I should start doing that... I'm sure it helps you accomplish what you plan to do, especially with so many eyes holding you accountable!

  11. Oooh, I had an idea for your wall art! You could do brightly colored canvases with Bible verses on them. Or cute little quotes. Like this: http://modpodgerocksblog.com/2012/11/canvas-mod-podge-prints.html

  12. Love that! I have been having fun with bright colors lately... I might need to try that combo :)

  13. I would love to read your goals, Victoria! :) I think next month I'm going to go down to 3 goals and really work through the "why" aspect. It's cool to see how even the way you set goals progresses! :)

  14. Thanks Rebecca! :) Yeah Bekah's sleep schedule totally changed this week. hahah. Silly unpredictable babies. :) I like that this month my goal was just to develop a good routine... I feel so much grace to just figure it out slowly and try new methods of quiet time. Very refreshing :) Hope you are doing well!

  15. I should do a post similar to this... It would give me some extra accountability... ^_^ What is the theme/color scheme of your bathroom? I have one little letter canvas hung in ours, and I'm hoping to make a few more soon- at least one verse, and maybe some words shaped as an anchor. {its nautical and blue + yellow.} I think I'm gonna tackle that SheReadsTruth study this month! I need a boost for my devo's!!! Hey, could you share what baby articles you read?
