In honor of Father's day - here are 10 of my favorite things about my Dad. Some are silly, some are sweet. He's an amazing guy!
1. He becomes everyone's friend.
Ever restaurant server feels liked and appreciated by him. He's always kind to strangers. He always makes people feel welcome in our family's home.
2. He's always making up funny songs and doing impersonations.
Which leads to the next one...
just found this on my sister's Facebook - it is so him |
3. He belly laughs with his family (and is very often the one who made us laugh).
Just today we were laughing about something so hard both of us were doubled over... I love his facial expressions when he laughs!
4. He's so smart and a hard worker (mixed with humble, kind, and a real people-lover).
As a kid, I felt like he was the president giving me a tour around the white house when he showed us his workplace. I've always been so proud of him and the work he does. He brings so much joy and laughter wherever he goes.
5. He knows every mile marker like he's standing right there with you.
When I'm on a trip, he'll text me asking for the mile marker. When I respond with the number, he can tell me exactly where I am... surrounding towns... sometimes landmarks... crazy.
6. He is always encouraging me and gives great hugs.
He's so comforting. I love that about him. Today he put his arm around my shoulders when we were waiting for lunch and it was the best.
high school homecoming court - being with him was the best part! |
7. He's always been there for us.
Both physically and as a support in every stage of my life.. Can't say enough how thankful I am for that.
8. He loves God and loves the Bible.
Many family dinners started with reading a Psalm. He's always been vocal about praising God. He is so quick to pray for us. I understand a lot about God because of my Dad's loving nature and his godly character.
9. He's an incredible and super fun "Bubb" to Bekah.
He's always making her laugh and he is so sweet with her. In my head, I can hear him saying "Hi Bekah!" in his warm, kind voice. Totally touches my heart. No wonder she loves him so much!
I always knew he'd be an amazing grandpa to her. She's blessed with two of those!
Christmas 2013 - we've added two brothers-in-law and baby Bekah since then - and we all love him! |
10. He's my Dad.
I'm so proud to call him mine!
Love you always, Dad. Thank you for every little and big decision you made day after day, for the past 35 years to love your family. Having you as my Dad is one of my greatest joys in life.
Love,
Bonnie
Hope all you Dads had a great Father's day. God Bless you! Thank you for all you do!
