Weekend Recap | Wedding & A Surprise Date Night

Sitting down to write for a few minutes before heading to bed after a great weekend. Saturday morning we drove to Gettysburg for a friend's wedding. The ceremony was beautiful. It took place at Caledonia State Park, surrounded by hiking trails. I loved the contrast of the elegant wedding and the passer-bys in their athletic clothing, walking their dogs, craning their necks to get a look at the ceremony. One of the sweetest parts of the wedding was when the groom sang as things got started and the family members were seated. Teresa, the bride, was breathtakingly beautiful.

Because it was so sunny (and we have a fair-skinned baby :)) Luke hung out with Bekah in a nearby pavilion with a few moms and their babies. I looked back at one point and couldn't help but stare for a little while. He is such a fun, kind-hearted dad. Bekah squeezed a sweet potato pouch all over her self while they were back there, but we were prepared with a backup dress. Which I thought was an even cuter one. ;) Our friend Izetta took a picture of her husband and baby and in the background, Bekah was doing a perfect photobomb. She had sweet potato all over her face and looked like a little deer in the headlights. It is soo cute!!

After the ceremony, everyone at the wedding got together for a group picture - such a fun idea! Check out Bekah's sweet pose...
thanks to Cheryl Hawks Landis (via Facebook) for capturing this moment - we love it!

At the reception we were spoiled with tons of friend and family time. The food was delicious and Bekah did great in her little seat, getting to know some of our friends she hasn't spent much time with yet. My good friend Kirsten sat beside her at one point, and Bekah's game of choice was to pass a clean diaper back and forth with her. Not even sure how she got that diaper from her diaper bag... but Kirsten said she got lots of big smiles and would play that game with Bekah any day. :)

I love this picture where Bekah is just one of the girls

thanks to my sweet friend Caitlyn Mathis for these last two pics
Luke completely surprised me on Saturday evening with a special date night. He told me about a week ago that he was planning something, but I had no idea what he was planning or when it would happen. Luke's parents watched Bekah for a few hours while we went to see a movie (our first movie theater movie together since before Bekah was born!) then we had dinner. Has anyone seen the Disney Nature movies? We saw Monkey Kingdom and it was seriously awesome! Luke and I both kinda expected it to be like a normal nature documentary, good but maybe a little long and boring, but it was so fun. Tina Fey narrated and in true disney fashion it was just excellent and so creative all the way through. I would definitely recommend checking it out. :) We're planning to rent the other Disney Nature movies in the future.

After the movie, Luke took me to a candlelit dinner that some of our really sweet friends had set up for us (Thanks guys!!! It was beautiful!). There was dessert from Jacquelyn's (my favorite bakery) and one of our favorite meals. Luke had it all set up by a big whiteboard so he could help me do some dreaming about my blog. He is really gifted with strategy, so whenever he helps me think through stuff that matters to me - I always end up with much more clarity. Luke put so much thought and planning into our date night. What a sweetie! It was a real treat to be with you, Babe!

Anyways, it was a great weekend. We drove home late Saturday night and Sunday was pretty much just church and naps. :)

What do you want to remember from your weekend?

Love,
Bonnie
